Snapshot

Performance, 2007-Ongoing

Snapshot is a collective re-writing process of local news stories.

During the performance’s research process in Turkey, Eğrikavuk went through Turkish news archives and chose 200 headlines from major news sources.

Each headline was then printed on a piece of paper, which was distributed to the performance audience. Eğrikavuk asked everyone to re-construct the news story, based on the given headline. After the collective writing, a professional news anchor read the fictional news reports. The performance was also broadcasted live on the street through a TV and speakers.

Snapshot was performed in Chicago (2007), Los Angeles (2008), Sharjah Biennial (2013) and Art Souterrain (2019) with their local news anchor.
