Time To Sing A New Song

Video Installation, 2016

The short animation video consists of a slogan “Eve, Finish Up Your Apple!“, followed by a woman's emoji slowly turning into an apple.

I wanted to to subvert the seductress and cunning female image portrayed through Eve in major single-God religions and give Eve an alternative ending where she could finish the apple, instead of giving it to Adam.

The video installation, which was located on top of Istanbul’s Pera Marmara hotel was censored and shut down by Turkish municipality officers three days after its opening, allegedly for causing visual pollution.

Below you may also find images from the work, as well as my response performance to censorship, where I and a group of my students called municipality live in front of the audience.
